NIIMC Kart Grand Prix

 

19 June 2012 – The club had our first ever Kart GP, it was held at Lyons Karting track just outside Hillsborough. What a fantastic night it turned out to be… beautiful blue skies and red hot 270cc karts!

Ten members turned out, Stuart, Ricky, Simon, Johnny, Richard, Ian, Phil, Cyril, James and Paul so we decided to take the faster karts onto the track. After a practice session of 15 laps on the amazing outside track at Lyons, we then took a well deserved break for refreshments and to get the blood back to our arms!!!

Another even faster 15 lap qualifying session settled our grid positions for the big race. Then it turned serious and very competitive!!!!  Paul was really fast all night, however he fluffed his start from the front row of the grid…. Stuart started on pole and went on the take victory (although he was pushed all the way!).

It really was an epic nights craic… and everyone agreed we must do it again very soon. Big thanks to all the crew at Lyons.
