22nd Irish Classic & Vintage Motor Show 2013 – well worth a visit
Early rise for Dave, Peter and myself for this show, and what a sunny day to travel to Dublin. This show in it’s 22nd year was held in Terenure College grounds on 7th July 2013.
After a four hour journey down, including a necessary breakfast stop and queue of classic cars that gathered after Junction 11 off the M50. We managed to get parked up in the Alfa Romeo Owners Club (AROC) stand at 12 noon and added a few more Alfas to the already impressive collection of cars on display.
On appearance we were welcomed by Martin Cronin (one of our friends from the AROC Irish Section). Martin and colleagues had been very kind in supporting our event at Lagan Valley Island in May so it was appropriate that we made the effort to join him in Dublin for this event. Martin introduced us to other Irish Section members, some of whom we had not met before and we were made to feel very welcome.
Having never been to this show before, I was very impressed by the size and scale of it . There were 1,000 plus cars on display along with a wide range of trade and food stands. There was an abundance of cars on display from Jaguar, Daimler, Bentley, Mercedes Benz, Porsche, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Lancia, Triumph, MG, Ford, Citroen, TVR, and even a few rare cars made by Tatra, Buick and a rare and immaculate Jaguar XJ220.
The long journey there and back was well worth the effort . It was a fabulous day and this is certainly a show that should feature on our annual calendar of events as one to attend again next year.
