Italian Car Bonanza in Bardolino
I have just returned from a fantastic fortnight on our family holiday in Bardolino in Lake Garda. Armed with my trusty camera I was keen to snap some photos of any Italian cars that caught my eye. First of all I am pleased to report that the Italians in Lake Garda are pretty loyal to their Italian cars manufacturers – the Fiat 500 is clearly a success story as there was one on nearly every street corner and the Alfa Romeo Giulietta was also a common sight (mainly white ones). It was also pleasing to see a a range of different Lancias on the roads around the lake, from the compact Ypsilon to the Phedra people carrier.
I do have to admit though that there were also a considerable number of German cars about although I like to think that these were driven by German and Austrian tourists on holiday in Italy rather than Italian owners who preferred to buy German instead of an Italian marque.
During my fortnight I did see some interesting and some beautiful cars. I thought club members would be interested to see the selection of photos that I took. As you can see the cars (and some bikes) range from the exotic Ferraris, classic Fiats and Alfas, local police cars and some other cars (mainly Lancias) rarely seen on our roads. I did manage to catch a glimpse of the new Maserati Quattroporte, several Lamborghinis (including a Muira), a Ferrari 308 race car and Lancia 037 rally car (both on trailers) on my way to Milan but I wasn’t able to get photos of them .
I hope you enjoy looking at the photos.
