Fabulous Fiats flock to Stresa.
As I touched down in sunny Italy on my holiday I hoped I would be fortunate enough to see some interesting, perhaps rare and desirable cars – Italian ones of course.
Therefore I couldn’t believe my luck when, on day two of my holiday as I strolled down by the lakeside in Stresa, I spied some vintage Fiats taking pride of place on the lawn outside the Regina Palace hotel, the oldest of which was a Fiat Tipo 1 Torpedo from 1909 (probably classed as a veteran Fiat).
Attached to each car was a plaque which read “Bellezze Fiat a Stresa, 5,6 & 7 Luglio 2015”. Such was my curiosity that I wanted to find out whether there would be more Fiats to feast my eyes on. So without further ado I asked at the hotel reception and was subsequently invited to look outside in the courtyard at the rear of the hotel and to take a peek in the hotel garage if I wanted to. I didn’t need a second invitation.
Lo and behold there were a selection of Fiats tucked away in the underground carpark, many of which I hadn’t seen before. I will let the pictures speak for themselves but I confess to not being able to identify them all. There was one in particular which provided little clue as to the model – the only obvious sign that it was a Fiat was the Fiat badging on the hub caps. I still don’t know what model it is or what year it was manufactured – if anyone reading this article does know then please put a post on the forum on the club website to enlighten me (check out the photo of the dark blue car with the registration 12258 PA)
In the meantime I hope you enjoy looking at the selection of cars – despite them being in a dark garage I hope my photos do them justice.
