Another Giulia Veloce ti in NI
I have long time been a fan of the Alfa Romeo Giulia but to date had not made the decision to buy one as I had not found the exact model and specification that I was looking for. I still love my 16 year old 159ti but I was facing mounting pressure from my children to buy something more modern.
I frequently browsed the used Giulias on Donnelly’s website and on other car related websites but hadn’t seen my ideal car. There were plenty of Giulia Quadfrifoglios that would do just nicely but the major flaw for me was a lack of funds – too dear, too fast and too expensive to run.
I had set my sights on a Giulia ti but as these were only produced for a period spanning 2 years – from 2019 t0 2021, they are in short supply. They were also approx £6k more than the Veloce so were sold in relatively few numbers as buyers could not justify the additional expense with no real performance advantage. Any time I looked there were only 5-6 Giulia ti’s for sale but as luck would have it a tri coat pearlescent red Giulia ti with a number of optional extras appeared on Autotrader a month ago and I decided that if I was ever going to buy one then this was the car for me. Fast forward a few weeks and I had done the negotiations with ROM Motors in Hinckley who were advertising the car. I paid a deposit to secure the car and my wife and I flew over to collect it on Thursday 10th August.
In terms of the car buying experience I was delighted with the level of customer service that I received from Simon and Gareth from ROM Motors. Both of them were patient in answering my many questions about the car and its history etc and they clearly appreciated the additional challenges associated with buying a car across the water. They didn’t do the hard sales pitch and gave me the time to consider the deal and make my decision regarding the car. As part of the deal they agreed to pick us up from Birmingham airport and take us to the dealership where the car was sitting pretty waiting for us. After a thorough look round it and a test drive the deal was done and we set off with our new purchase complete with some touch up paint which Simon had kindly agreed to give me for the car.
ROM Motors prides itself in sourcing special and desirable vehicles as can be seen from the selection of vehicles on their website – at present this includes a Lamborghini Urus, an Aston Martin V8 Vantage and a couple of Audi RS4 Avants, not to mention a stunning and well specced Alfa Romeo Giuila Quadrifoglio. Mine was the second Giulia they had sold in recent weeks with a Visconti Green Giulia Veloce with the upgraded 19″ diamond cut alloys making its way to Scotland.
Apart from having to part with the cash the experience was painless. The car performed impeccably on the drive up to Cairnryan to bring it back on the boat and after nearly 2 weeks of ownership I am delighted with the car and delighted with the many positive comments and compliments I have received from others who have admired it. I am reliably informed that there are only 3 Giulia ti’s in Northern Ireland so it sits in exclusive company.
My thanks again to Simon from ROM for his customer focus and attention to detail. I am lucky to have sourced a rare Alfa Romeo Giulia ti in this specification and I am glad to report that my children thoroughly approve.
